How Time Flies…

Caleb has been pretty busy since Thanksgiving. He traveled to Illinois to celebrate Thanksgiving with Great Grandma and Grandpa Lee. He returned home in time to celebrate with Grammy, Grampy, and all of his Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins on the Johnson side. The following weekend he partied with Hoyt IV at his 3rd birthday celebration. He was almost all packed for a week long vacation to Oklahoma, Missouri, and Illinois, but the trip was canceled because of bad weather. Caleb settled for a weekend get away to (drum roll please) Winston-Salem. He enjoyed swimming in the pool and lounging in the hot tub, but his favorite part of the weekend was the quick drive through the Tanglewood Lights. Two weekends ago he traveled back to Burlington to participate in the Boyd Wright Road Nativity as baby Jesus. It went well except for the fact he was almost hoofed to death by a pony. On Sunday, he accompanied Dad on the bells while we went Christmas Caroling at the local hospital.

Finally Christmas arrived and Caleb was ready for it. Every chance he got, he rolled over to the Christmas tree and started playing with the presents. When it was finally time to unwrap the presents, Caleb was not nearly as enthusiastic as he will be in the next couple of years, but his eyes were as big as saucers when he saw all the brightly colored petroleum derived (that’s plastic for those of you in Rio Linda) toys.

Now mom and dad are just wishing that all the festivities hadn’t messed around with his sleep schedule. <grin> We hope you enjoy the holiday album. Drop us a line, or post a comment!

Caleb’s First Voice Lesson

This one will take a couple of minutes to watch, but I think you will find it well worth your effort.

My Hobbies

Well, dad finally decided at six months that I was old enough to do some of my own blogging. Ever since I first got my hands on a keyboard I have been dying to do some of my own entries. Today I am going to share some of my hobbies, a.k.a. how mom and I stay busy while dad is at work.

Blogging

Dad gave me my first lesson in changing the oil the other day. I watched carefully as dad showed me the ins and outs of this piece of routine automobile maintenance. From this I learned that changing the oil must be a lot like changing a diaper. Once dad got underneath the car, it started peeing on him just like I do when he takes my diaper off. Even dad’s hands looked like he was changing a dirty diaper!

Mom has been reading from my picture Bible to me every day, so I decided to give the reading thing a try myself. What I don’t understand is why my parents sit around and just look at something that clearly tastes so delicious. My motto is, “A book in the mouth is worth two in the hand.” (I can’t get bookworms from that can I?)

Dad has been spending some time teaching me about the guitar. Mostly I strum while dad picks out some chords. I really like how it sounds, and I would like it better if my arms were long enough to strum and chord. Well, all I need is a few more months. I’m already almost as tall as Pastor Kratzer.

Finally, in my spare time I have been practicing a little male modeling. I know we all wonder sometimes if there is more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking… but I try not to think about that too much. I can’t afford to be distracted or I could get caught in the middle of a breakdance fight or a freak gasoline fight accident. This is my new look. I like to call it “blue felt.”

Modeling

Until next time, keep on bloggin…

Month Six Photos

The last month has been pretty fast paced for the Johnson household. The south-eastern summer drought gives way to the fall rainy season, it struck me that Caleb hasn’t seen much rain up to this point. I walked him out on to the deck while it was drizzling the other day so he could experience some of the rain firsthand.

I’m going to try to get back in the habit of making at minimum a weekly update to the blog. In the meantime, Jessica and I are uploading more photos to the web gallery. Check them out below.

Well, Caleb has been quite busy the last few weeks. From food to rolling over, he has been trying new things and picking up new talents. It has been a while since we updated the blog, so here are THREE videos to keep everyone happy.

Caleb Strikes a Pose

Wow– it has been too long since I have updated the blog. Caleb is growing by leaps and bounds. At his four month checkup he is a very happy 19lbs and 27″. The doctor said that it is time to start in
on solid foods so Caleb had his first introduction to Cream of Wheat several nights ago. That made for some great video and photos that we will be sharing.

(Some have complained that they are unable to view the above gallery. If you are in that category, try this link.)
Caleb is still bouncing in his jumperoo, although we did have to move the height notch up to the second level. On the floor, he is just about to the point of rolling over. He rolls up on his side and then rolls back. He has rolled over several times with assists from mom and dad, but is just short of his first solo roll. He has become adept at grabbing things that are left within his reach. In some of the pictures, Caleb is sporting his come hither look and his 12 month “Stud Muffin” onesie. If you notice a great deal of saliva in some of the pictures, that is because Caleb is probably very close to teething and has taken to blowing spit bubbles.Enjoy this album, and expect to see an update with some videos soon.

Now That’s Entertainment

Nobody, except mom and Caleb might ever know exactly what dad was doing — but Caleb sure thought it was funny. This is our first segment of laughter video, and you can see that Caleb has two sets of dimples on the side of his face when he laughs. I can’t really add much to this, but if a picture is worth a thousand words then this video is worth even more.

Jumperoooooo!

Over the past month, mom and dad have been putting Caleb in his Jumperoo for longer periods of time. At first he wasn’t sure what to do. Then he noticed the cool gadgets around the edge. Now he is beginning to touch the ground and do some riverdance moves. Occasionally he even starts to get in a bouncing rhythm. It looks like he will be having a lot of fun with this piece of equipment over the next few months.

We weighed Caleb on our home scale this week, and he is only an ounce or two shy of 17 pounds! He is growing up so fast — and getting so big. Perhaps Caleb won’t be the runt of his class as his dad was.

Another first this week, Mom and I were singing to Caleb when out of nowhere he started singing along with us. OK, he wasn’t singing words, but he was holding long vowel sounds to a pitch. It was pretty cool.

Miscellaneous Photos

Caleb has been busy over the last few weeks, and dad is finally getting around to putting some of the photos online. Caleb attended his first concert and went to his cousin David’s birthday party. Caleb had summer time pool fun, with and without his clothes. He’s starting to reach for and grab various toys, and smiles and laughs are becoming more and more plentiful. Just so you won’t all miss out on how much growing Caleb has been doing, we have another photo album for you.

Praying… Flashback

Back by popular demand… a picture of Daddy and his son doing similar poses over 30 years apart Caleb seems to be a bit distracted, and also possibly a bit younger than dad was when he took his photo was snapped.
