What’s Caleb Up to Poll

Mom snapped this picture, and we thought it would make a good centerpiece for a poll. What we want to know is what do you think Caleb is doing in this shot. We have a few possible suggestions, but we would really like to see what you can come up with. If you have any super turbo extra fun special ideas, then by all means, choose “Some amazing complicated turbo frenzied happy fun syrup glazed task” and post a comment to the blog and let us know!

Caleb Speaks

While this isn’t exactly the Gettysburg Address, Caleb is learning about listening and vocalizing in response. Caleb looks forward to when dad comes home, and for the first 30 minutes they talk about how Caleb’s day was.

This particular video was taken in the afternoon after his cousin David’s birthday party. Caleb was pretty excited talking about everything he saw. Caleb is a little over 2 months old.

Pool Party

Caleb has been splashing around in his deluxe one ring inflatable pool. We weren’t sure how he was going to deal with the cooler pool water, but the day was hot enough that he was a happy camper. There are some other recent pics thrown in for good measure as well.

Recreating the Past

We thought we would have a little fun with Caleb doing some poses that his daddy did back in 1974. Let us know what you think… we might decide to put some more of these up.

There and Back Again

Caleb (aka Mr. Chunks) has been having a great time over the past few days. First his rainforest jumperoo came in the post. Of course dad was so excited that he put it together right off the bat even though Caleb’s feet might not touch the ground in it for another month.

A day later, Caleb made his first trip to Illinois. He did a fantastic job, partly due to the fact that we loaded up the car and took off as soon as Caleb had fallen asleep for the night. We only had to make one feeding stop before arriving at Great Grandma Lee’s. For now, Caleb seems to be quite the capable traveler in his first long range outing.

While in Illinois, Caleb chilled with his cousins David(3) and Muzetta(1). One afternoon they invited him to their grass-clipping filled pool. While Caleb loves his warm bath water, he wasn’t getting a feel for the colder pool water.

Great Grandma and Grandpa Lee got to check out Caleb in person for the first time on this trip. We snapped a few pictures. Great Grandpa said he couldn’t hold Caleb for too long because he is so big he makes his back sore. (Did we mention that Caleb is becoming a BIG boy?)

Caleb made the trip back home just as well as the trip away. Yesterday after getting home at about 9AM, we left at 5PM to attend cousin Talise’s birthday party, and to celebrate the 4th with the Johnson clan. There were hotdogs and cupcakes to go around, and even a breastfeeding party in the Corolla.

Caleb got all decked out in red and blue glow bracelets for the event. He liked the fireworks, and didn’t seem to startle, thanks to mom and dad keeping their hands over his ears. All in all, it has been a jam packed few days. Caleb is starting to sleep longer, now giving us a 6+ hour stretch during the night.

Real Imitations

It has been a little difficult to catch Caleb in the act of imitating facial expressions, but we have a few more photos to share of him making faces at dad. (I guess I should enjoy it while it is smiles, cause soon enough it will be grimaces and rolling the eyes.)

Finally, Caleb had a blow out, so much so that we had to flip him over to get the poo off his arms, shoulders, and upper back. When we did he picked his head up and started looking at himself, so we snapped this piece of blackmail photography.

Check Me Out!

Caleb is starting to show more emotion in his facial expressions. Below there are a couple of good shots.

Happy Caleb 1

He sure is looking happy. Check out this next one.

Happy Caleb 2

Wow! He is totally amazed with something. I wonder what it could be? The third picture should clear that up a bit for us…

Happy Caleb 3

Yup… looking in the mirror at himself. That has become one of his favorite pass times of late. I guess that goes hand in hand with imitating the facial expressions of those around him.

Hot ‘n Fresh… Get Your Smiles Here

Caleb gave me a pretty cool Father’s Day gift. Besides making me a father for the first time, he also began smiling in response to external stimulation for the first time on June 17th, 2007.  When I smile and talk to him, he now will sometimes smile back… pretty cool indeed. I think mom is a little jealous.

Hopefully we will be able to get some smiling pictures in the near future.
