Little Drummer Boy
Okay, it’s a little early for Christmas, but here is a recent video shot on a cell phone of Caleb playing the drums.

Here is the long awaited surf video of Caleb’s first beach vacation. As you can see, he looks like The Hoff bounding in to the surf. Now if he just had some bright red/orange trunks… maybe next year.

Caleb just returned from his first time vacationing at the beach. He loved it! The first day he was a little unsure about the water, but he quickly warmed up to it. Before we knew it, Caleb was running in and out of the waves and digging and rolling around in the sand. He always made time to give the older ladies on the beach a big grin and follow them for about 10 feet before running back to the surf. We couldn’t even take just a walk on the beach because Caleb wanted to play in the water. He also enjoyed having Daddy take him out in the big waves. We’re still trying to get all the sand off him.
He played with his cousins Hoyt, Aiden, and Meia, merrily alternating between chaser and chased as the three boys marauded through the bedrooms in our hotel suite. It could have just been SPF 9645 sunblock he was wearing, but he seems to be quite a bit more tolerant of the sunshine than his dad. Besides the beach and the pool, Caleb spent one afternoon with his cousins at Barefoot Landing.
Here are a few pictures from the beach and last month. Watch for video soon.
This is just a quick update to let everyone know that we had our first “sibbie” sighting today. Jessica is just over nine weeks pregnant, placing the due date for sibbie on [cue sleigh bells] December 25th! Sibbie was flailing its arm and leg sprouts, swimming around wildly for the ultrasound. This led Jessica to dub sibbie “flipper.”

It’s been a few weeks since our trip to Oklahoma, but with the excitement of Caleb’s first birthday we haven’t had much time to post an entry about it. Caleb seemed to enjoy his plane ride. Our flights were early enough that Caleb slept for at least half of the flight. When he was awake he was entertained by Daddy or Papa, who in turn entertained those seated around us. Every few seconds papa would use his magic wand (i.e. pen) to turn Caleb into a carrot, tomato, or some other vegetable. He even turned Ben in to two dirty diapers.
Except for the few times when Caleb tried pulling the hair of the person seated in front of us (don’t worry, he didn’t get very far with that) or dropped his toy behind us in to a row of sleeping passengers, he was a fun traveler. Oh yes, he did take his kazoo along on the flight. He got it out a few times and serenaded the nearby passengers with a lovely song. I think they appreciated it. I think.Caleb enjoyed seeing/meeting his Great Grandparents, Great Aunts and Uncles, Cousins, second cousins and lots of other people. He was not shy at all, and warmed up quickly. Before long he was playing the crowd like he plays his kazoo.
He found the single step descending to Great Grandma Johnson’s laundry room/porch and quickly mastered both ascending and descending. He had some experience climbing up — but this was his first unassisted descent and he didn’t crash once!
Caleb got the nickel tour of Buffalo, OK. Papa was the tour guide, pointing out landmarks and talking about his exploits in the days when dinosaurs walked the earth. Cousin Chace was the chauffeur, managing to stay on the road most of the time.
Caleb also spent one day in Woodward, getting to visit Uncle Joe’s sporting goods store (where he got his name put on a t-shirt) and he also visited boiling Springs where Papa was once a lifeguard. He ended the day at Aunt Sandy’s where he met a dog that was big enough for him to ride.
It was a busy weekend, and everyone made it home in one piece. Now it is time to start resting up. For those of you who have not heard, we are pleased to announce that Caleb has a sibling on the way… due around Christmas time.
Caleb had a pretty horrible birthday. He went for his one year check up at the doctor’s office, and not only did he have to get shots, but he also had a little blood work done. He was not a happy camper, and he has a bruise on his arm to prove it. Here are a few pictures from his birthday party on Saturday. Hope you enjoy them!
We need your help deciding which toy Caleb should take on his first flight. Watch the video clip below and then vote for your favorite!

I know the burning question on everyone’s mind is, “how does Caleb spend his Saturdays?” So not wanting to disappoint any of my readers, I decided to dedicate an entire post to answering that question. This is a typical Saturday, complete with pictures and witty commentary.
Good Morning! Ya, I know it’s only 7:00am on a Saturday, but I’m ready to get my day started. I’ve been standing in my crib talking for about 15 minutes, and mom and dad finally came in — and I promptly told them to take this picture.
There’s a lot to be done and no time to lose. I need to play, eat, play, diaper change, get dressed, play, wait for mommy and daddy to get ready, play. You get the picture.
Finally Mom and Dad are ready, and we are on the road. Could they have taken any longer?
After almost falling asleep in the car, we finally arrive to our destination. Perhaps some day we won’t live in Smallsbury and I won’t have to spend 30 minutes in the car to get to any place other than Wally-World. Today I find myself at Target. I love Target.
I really LOVE Target!
We made a few more stops, but I was starting to get pretty hungry. I got Mom and Dad to stop at Subway so I could eat some lunch!
A full belly + a short car ride to Sam’s Club= a sleepy lil’ pup! This is where my parents buy diapers in bulk. Dad says I keep Sam’s and Wal-mart afloat just with my diaper needs. I personally think it is all the candy mom and dad won’t share with me.

Finally all that shopping is out of the way and it’s time to really play. I love it outside. Nothing like getting some extra vitamin D. All the neighborhood girls like to check out the gun show when I I go shirtless.

I’m going for a ride in the wagon I got for Christmas from Grammy and Papa. On the hill our house was built on, it is like a roller coaster! I have to hold on tight to the sides.

A busy day with lots of fresh air deserves a big dinner. Mom lets me feed myself before she brings out the dreaded spoon. Here you have a rare shot when I have not thrown my sippy cup to the floor. I like watching mom and dad scramble to pick it up. (I also like to hear my name, and throwing it to the floor after each sip is a sure way to get mom to say it!)

After dinner dad and I often retire to the living room for carpet wrestling. When I wear dad out, I come in to the kitchen and help mom by taking out the dishes she has just put in to the dishwasher.

When I hear the water running, I strip down to nothing, cause I know it is bath time. I can’t get in by myself yet so I have to wait for dad to get in the water.

Oooh! Look at the column of liquefied sparkles! (Certainly don’t look where I have my hand.)

One of my favorite bath toys is this purple cup that dad drilled holes in the bottom of it. It makes it hard to drink the delicious bath water, but it sure is fun to play with.

Ah! A little night time nip. Nothing puts me to sleep like a little warm milk. I like mom and dad, but at bedtime only mom will do.

This is me reposed for the night. Have to get a good night’s sleep so that I can be up at sunrise again tomorrow! Hope you have enjoyed spending the day with me. Come and do it in person sometime.
Yup, that’s what Caleb has been up to. You can usually find him crawling around the floor humming his own little song. He’ll stop long enough to give you a scrunch, a.k.a a super smile, and then be on his way to whatever new item has grabbed his attention.
Here are a few pictures from last month. Hope you enjoy!
