Ramblings and Pictures

April is almost gone, and Caleb’s birthday is almost upon us.  3!  I can’t believe he’s going to be 3!  Caleb is our head weasel.  The other day when he woke up, he told us he was sick.  He laid around for about an hour, and then played the rest of the day without mentioning being sick.  Well, until after he woke up from his nap, where he told Daddy that, “I’m so sick” in a super pitiful voice.  He felt “bedduh” when it was time to go outside.  We’ve been trying to tell him how disgusting it is to pick one’s nose, but he doesn’t care.  It feels like 70% of the time I can look at him and find him picking away.  Joshua has noticed too.  Be sure and look for that picture below.  Joshua thinks it’s so funny when I tell him not to do that.

Caleb really enjoyed having some of his cousins spend the night last week.  He was so excited waiting for them, and could hardly contain himself once they arrived.  He yelled out, “Daddy, the COUSINS are here.”  He enjoyed showing them his toys and how he runs around the kitchen pretending he’s “Speed.”  I think my favorite part was how he wouldn’t say their names, he just called them cousins when he wanted their attention.

Joshua, our shy and serious weasel, is not afraid to throw fits.  His big thing is to throw himself on the floor and cry.  It makes me want to laugh when he does it, but I’m looking forward to him outgrowing that.  He also loves putting everything in his mouth.  Crayons, markers, chalk, bark, rocks and foam all taste pretty good to him.   Yum!

April brought us lots of candy, a visit from Grandma and Grandpa Lee, the Timco Family Fun Day, and beautiful weather.  Hope you enjoy a few pictures below.

It’s a big choo-choo!

I’ve been meaning to change our blog template for a year now. Thank goodness it’s Autumn again.

On Sunday, we went to the NC Transportation Museum in Spencer to take a ride on Thomas the Train. Caleb was in Choo-choo heaven. He couldn’t wait to ride the train–too bad we had an hour to kill before we were able to board. Caleb couldn’t quite grasp that concept. He didn’t understand why he could see Thomas, and Mommy and Daddy said we were going to take a ride, but yet we were walking away from the train. He got over it quickly when he found a train table to play on.

Caleb enjoys a ride down the slide.

“It’s a BIG choo-choo!”

They had Thomas blocked off so you couldn’t get a picture in front of him unless you paid for them to take it. Ben walked with Caleb around to the other side of Thomas and got this one. Cheese!

Caleb could have played at this table for hours. Joshua was ready to go.

Could Caleb have posed any better for this picture?

All Aboard!

Waiting for the train ride to start. The anticipation is killing us!

Here are a few extra pictures.

First Video of 2009

Well, we finally put a video together.  Who would have thought two little kids could keep you so busy.  On top of that, we had a bug going around that we affectionately named “the crapper.”  It stalked each member of our family down one at a time.  Needless to say, it has been taking a bit more time to get things done lately.  Check out the new photo album below as well. Enjoy.

Survivor Baby

Joshua is now 3 1/2 weeks old, and it has been about that long since we updated the blog… oh how time flies.  He has survived Caleb…so far.  His head wasn’t too hurt when Caleb ran one of his cars into it.  He didn’t spit up too much when Caleb helped turbo charge his travel swing.  I think he kind of enjoyed the ice cream, little pieces of goldfish, and juice that Caleb tried to sneak to him.  He can still move his lower extremities after Caleb stepped on his bottom.  The numerous hugs and kisses that Caleb gives him must somehow balance things out in the end.

Joshua has already had quite a series of adventures. He has been for a ride on his brother’s back, gone for a train ride, and set the Guinness World record for most poopy diapers in the first month of life… and it hasn’t even been a full month yet. He even got to do a little role playing as baby Tron. (Ok, actually it was the billi-light, but still, check out the cool picture.)

Caleb has been equally busy, keeping us on our toes. He has had to find new ways of drawing mom and dad’s attention away from the new distraction. He loves to climb on anything, including his little brother. He is learning new words all the time and will often repeat words we didn’t know he could say out of the blue. Perhaps his cutest vocalization is when he points at Joshua and says “bey-bey” in mock guttural tones.

Caleb has already run through two sets of batteries for his Elmo Live. Caleb makes sure that Elmo is talking as he goes about his regular activities. While dad has been off for his paternity leave, Caleb has spent a lot of time with him tending to their makeshift dam in the backyard creek. Caleb got lots of toys for Christmas… I think we need to call off Christmas for the next few years. The house is filling up.

Well, I guess I should draw this to a close. Don’t forget to leave us some comments! Perhaps they will motivate us to get some more video up on the blog.

Here is the long awaited surf video of Caleb’s first beach vacation.  As you can see, he looks like The Hoff bounding in to the surf.  Now if he just had some bright red/orange trunks… maybe next year.

Caleb Goes to the Beach!

Caleb just returned from his first time vacationing at the beach. He loved it! The first day he was a little unsure about the water, but he quickly warmed up to it. Before we knew it, Caleb was running in and out of the waves and digging and rolling around in the sand. He always made time to give the older ladies on the beach a big grin and follow them for about 10 feet before running back to the surf.  We couldn’t even take just a walk on the beach because Caleb wanted to play in the water. He also enjoyed having Daddy take him out in the big waves.  We’re still trying to get all the sand off him.

He played with his cousins Hoyt, Aiden, and Meia, merrily alternating between chaser and  chased as the three boys marauded through the bedrooms in our hotel suite.  It could have just been SPF 9645 sunblock he was wearing, but he seems to be quite a bit more tolerant of the sunshine than his dad.  Besides the beach and the pool, Caleb spent one afternoon with his cousins at Barefoot Landing.

Here are a few pictures from the beach and last month.  Watch for video soon.

A Day in My Life…

I know the burning question on everyone’s mind is, “how does Caleb spend his Saturdays?” So not wanting to disappoint any of my readers, I decided to dedicate an entire post to answering that question. This is a typical Saturday, complete with pictures and witty commentary.

Good Morning! Ya, I know it’s only 7:00am on a Saturday, but I’m ready to get my day started. I’ve been standing in my crib talking for about 15 minutes, and mom and dad finally came in — and I promptly told them to take this picture.

There’s a lot to be done and no time to lose. I need to play, eat, play, diaper change, get dressed, play, wait for mommy and daddy to get ready, play. You get the picture.

Finally Mom and Dad are ready, and we are on the road. Could they have taken any longer?

After almost falling asleep in the car, we finally arrive to our destination. Perhaps some day we won’t live in Smallsbury and I won’t have to spend 30 minutes in the car to get to any place other than Wally-World. Today I find myself at Target. I love Target.

I really LOVE Target!

We made a few more stops, but I was starting to get pretty hungry. I got Mom and Dad to stop at Subway so I could eat some lunch!

A full belly + a short car ride to Sam’s Club= a sleepy lil’ pup! This is where my parents buy diapers in bulk. Dad says I keep Sam’s and Wal-mart afloat just with my diaper needs. I personally think it is all the candy mom and dad won’t share with me.

Finally all that shopping is out of the way and it’s time to really play. I love it outside. Nothing like getting some extra vitamin D. All the neighborhood girls like to check out the gun show when I I go shirtless.

I’m going for a ride in the wagon I got for Christmas from Grammy and Papa. On the hill our house was built on, it is like a roller coaster! I have to hold on tight to the sides.

A busy day with lots of fresh air deserves a big dinner. Mom lets me feed myself before she brings out the dreaded spoon. Here you have a rare shot when I have not thrown my sippy cup to the floor. I like watching mom and dad scramble to pick it up. (I also like to hear my name, and throwing it to the floor after each sip is a sure way to get mom to say it!)

After dinner dad and I often retire to the living room for carpet wrestling. When I wear dad out, I come in to the kitchen and help mom by taking out the dishes she has just put in to the dishwasher.

When I hear the water running, I strip down to nothing, cause I know it is bath time. I can’t get in by myself yet so I have to wait for dad to get in the water.

Oooh! Look at the column of liquefied sparkles! (Certainly don’t look where I have my hand.)

One of my favorite bath toys is this purple cup that dad drilled holes in the bottom of it. It makes it hard to drink the delicious bath water, but it sure is fun to play with.

Ah! A little night time nip. Nothing puts me to sleep like a little warm milk. I like mom and dad, but at bedtime only mom will do.

This is me reposed for the night. Have to get a good night’s sleep so that I can be up at sunrise again tomorrow! Hope you have enjoyed spending the day with me. Come and do it in person sometime.

This one will take a couple of minutes to watch, but I think you will find it well worth your effort.
